Only 35 minutes drive from Kuching, the Santubong area has a great deal to offer the visitor. It has some superb natural attractions centred on the rainforested slopes of Mount Santubong, its mangrove forests, rivers, near shore waters and mudflats. These different habitats are home to variety of wildlife making Santubong one of the best sites in Sarawak to see a range of wildlife in a natural setting.
With it vast resources in flora and fauna that is unique in this area, Santubong is gazetted as National Park on Feb 28th 2007 with Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) as its custodian. The National Park is opened to public and on 18th September 2022, Grit is collaborating with SFC to organise the Santubong International Nature Trail Run 2022 with the aim to promote Santubong to trail runners and hikers from this region to enjoy the trail here. This also part of Grit Trail Series 2022 that encourage the runners to enjoy the different trail in Sarawak.
Runners can choose from various distances – from the challenging 15km to the family 2km category. The route provides the runners with a mixture of breath-taking mountainous scenery, a grueling test of fitness with the backdrop of beautiful South China Sea. There will be competitive cash prizes available for the 15km & 5km Category for both men and women category.
